by Passport renewal done and was there for more than 4 hrs!!! Not enough staff to attend to people and then the system went offline for nearly an hour. Had to be informed that they are not allowed to employ more staff to assist. An outrage considering the wastage taking place in the government office. Dread to think what it's going to be like collecting!!! Another 4 hrs???

by I purposely drove to Malmesbury Home Affairs with my Malawian Gardner to try and assist him in obtaining a work permit and visa. After standing an waiting in the queue for approximately 2 hours (I had a back procedure last week, just to mention, so this was very painful for me). When we finally reached the door which is closed and access we were told is only via the Guard. Approximately 5 (African folk walked in ahead of everyone in the queue, the Guard greeted them and welcomed them with a big smile, walked back out with them and took them across the road to the building opposite.. At NO Stage did he ever acknowledge myself or anyone else in the queue who were waiting and say that he will be returning, and we may go inside or anything. He then returned with them and they "jumped the queue and were assisted. In the meantime I entered the building and was waiting at the desk to be assisted. He approached me and rudely asked what right did I have to enter the building without his permission and he is there to direct me!!! It told him that my back was sore and that I was there to try and assist with a work permit. He shouted that this is not done in Malmesbury and walked off. I called him back and asked him where must I go and he in a angry manner grabbed a form off the counter and gave it to me saying I must read it!. He should not be dealing with the public at all. It appears that alittle bit of authority has clearly gone to his head and he is happy to assist "his friends". I have been told that this is the norm with him. A suggestion is that someone should be approaching the "folk in the queue to check that he are not standing there for nothing. If this has happened to me then how many other people as well??? I did try ringing the contact no's on your website before travelling to Malmesbury and on both no's their is no reply!! The phone just rings!!!!!!!

by After calling Malmesbury Home Affairs at 14h45 to make sure of the open hours and telling them I'm coming in for an ID application, I arrived at 15h30 to be told even though they are open they cannot assist me because they have filled their quota for the day. Are you serious.. not office hours..a QUOTA??? 60km driving for nothing. I demanded to speak to the " Head Honcho". What a joke. As public we are to guess how government offices are run. Needless to say I got no where. He couldn't explain to me why they have uneducated people answering the phones.....a six year old could answer the phone and say sorry we are not taking more applications for the day. Apparently the quota was filled at 15h00, but no one could provide me proof that 100 people had been there before me nor was there a notice. Staff standing around doing nothing because why.....quota for the day had been filled. Sometimes the quota is done by 11h00...what do the staff do then? Saw staff walking in when i was leaving at 15h45 with lots of shopping . Can't imagine how people that finish work at 16h00 get their lunch or tea breaks before closing for the day....oh yes...if course...because when you reach quotas you stop working and we the public pay the price

by They don't answer their phones. I've checked online and this seems to be something that's been happening for years. Isn't it about time the Western Cape Government does something about the service at these departments?

It took me 15 minutes to stand in line and be helped by a super friendly and efficient lady. What a pleasure.
